Manga review: Ichijou Kaname to wa Kakawaranai

Hi there again. It seems like my schedule is slowly getting back on track again. I don’t really know. Anyways, as I’m writing this review, I am actually doing some things at the same time. I’m eating breakfast, playing Arknights on my phone, watching Cryaotic live streaming and having an aching shoulder from who knows where. So please forgive me for any mistakes I make, because I do multiple things haha. Anyways, let’s go to the manga.Ichijou Kaname to wa Kakawaranai theme 1

It has 11 chapters which are divided into 2 volumes. Can’t find much info about the mangaka. I found 2 other series by the author, but that’s it.

This series is a painful love story of a return to the past to erase the first love. Ritsu, the main character, goes back to the past to change the future since her lover Ichijou Kaname is going to die and she tries her best to avoid him and suppress her love.

The concept of it all is kind of interesting. It reminds people of Orange. Only difference is that this one is done with some supernatural stuff, and the other one is scientifically explained. Not real science I think, but just a hypothesis. So the concept was one not many people make successfully, but this one, not bad at all.

Storywise, well, there are some gaps. Not the most steady story, but overall doable. I mean, I felt like some things were very cringey. So, ye, it’s obvious it’s shoujo manga. There are always those very cliché scenes of “Oh no, I shouldn’t get close to him, because I made him die” “I still love him so much though ToT” and the like. I mean, if you try to avoid someone, you end up attracting people always. That’s literally how things are in manga.

Characters are cool I guess. Some exaggerate, not those love triangles for once, thank you. Supporting people and pretty straightforward actions. Auguste is a cool character. He’s my favourite in the story.

The art was nice, it’s shoujo manga, so ye. Nothing much to say about it.

Overall, not bad. It’s also not the best I’ve read. It’s a doable one, to say it like that. Some people would love it. I felt it began good, butt hen I forgot it was shoujo manga….. heh. I don’t have anything against shoujo manga, but after reading a lot of it, you get the tropes. I’m giving it a 6/10. Not the best story, but definitely not one you can’t enjoy.

And that was it for this week. Hope you enjoyed it and I’m trying to get it to a regular schedule again, but for the time being, ye rip. Laters
