Hello there people. As I’m writing this it’s 3,5 hours before I actually have to post this, which will be no problem, but I just wanna have a break…. But I write anyways, so what am I complaining about? Lately been doing stuff for school so much and it’s nonstop that I’m kinda getting fed up by it, but it can’t be helped since some things need to be done before the deadline… I procrastinated quite a bit on that to be honest. Despite my school matters, I’ll bring you my review of the week.
This time it’s Tsurune. An anime I’ve watched 1 or 2 months ago, when I was doing half-nighters, to call them like that. I stayed up till 3 am and woke up at 7 at that time… But yeah, this one is adapted from a novel, which is completely fan translated. You can find the link below or search on NovelUpdates yourself. The anime has 13 episodes and an extra episode which is called Tsurune: Kazemai Koukou Kyuudoubu – Yabai. It doesn’t have a manga series that I know of. If it has, it’s not English translated. And that’s all the information I have. Let’s continue!
“Tsurune”—It’s the sound made by the bowstring when an arrow is released, and the sound that inspired Minato Narumiya to learn Kyuudo, a modern Japanese martial art focusing on archery. However, an incident during his last middle school tournament caused him to quit the sport.
But soon, many factors conspire to make Minato take up the bow once again: the start of a new Kyuudo club in his high school, a chance encounter with a mysterious archer, and the support of his childhood friends, Seiya Takehaya and Ryouhei Yamanouchi. Together with his childhood friends and his new teammates, Kaito Onogi and Nanao Kisaragi, Minato rekindles his love for Kyuudo and works with his team toward their aim of winning the prefectural tournament.

The concept, as I know, it’s nice. I hear people saying it is the archery version of Free!, but I haven’t watched the anime of that one, so can’t say anything. I should watch it one day, but I’m just too indifferent to that one. So, yeah, I like the concept actually. It’s been that a lot of sports anime were being aired around that time. I don’t watch a lot of sports anime, but the way this idea and how it was worked out wasn’t bad. Just a bit on the hasty side in my opinion. I felt like I would miss some details in the story that was just being overlooked. I would’ve liked it if they either made another season or the number of episodes a bit longer. But still not bad at all.
The story was very calming. Although there’s some drama, it’s not really that I felt anything from it or that the problems were THAT big of a deal. Most of them were actually just youth problems. Finding your own way, trying to be kind to everyone while you realize everything, anger problems, etc. It’s a simple story and there can be a bit of complexness behind it, but that can be totally ignored if you want to. I saw it a bit, because it was just so calming and the thoughts and stuff, but nah, not that special and anything.
The characters were…. a bit bland? Conversation-wise could be somewhat deeper but not really that much. Everyone had some kind of small character development, but I couldn’t really say that were round characters. They were the most round characters, but I feel like it could’ve been displayed even more. I do like their designs. Especially Shuu’s design… *melts away*. Anyways *cough cough*, ye they didn’t have that much of a personality in my opinion, which wasn’t bad with this anime anyways.
The animation was nice. I liked how they did things. And it was really calmly done and stuff. The music was really nice. I like the OP the most. They did a great job on that. Also, can’t say much animation-wise, because I actually don’t pay that much attention to it…
And in the end I will give it a 6,5/10. It’s a really nice anime I do admit, but it will only be ‘nice’ and not like ‘good’ as the characters were a bit bland and pacing could’ve been a bit different in my opinion. I haven’t read the Light Novel of this one, but I would like to read it soon enough.
And well, that’s it, I need to do some school stuff, so won’t say much. Until laters.
Link I forget like always and need to be edited later on:
