Because there was an announcement of a second season of this series in 2019, I thought, why not review the first season? I’ve read the manga of this one too, so I’ll probably know what will happen in the second season. Anyways, I actually abrely know anything about the background information, purely because I read and watched most of this in about 1 week. I kind of forgot what I researched at that time ^^”. Well, let’s continue on.
The start of Hanae Ashiya’s high school career has not been easy—he has spent all of the first week in the infirmary, and his inexplicable condition is only getting worse. The cause of his torment is the mysterious fuzzy creature that has attached itself to him ever since he stumbled upon it the day before school began.
As his health continues to decline and the creature grows in size, Hanae comes across a flyer advertising an exorcist who expels youkai. Desperate and with nothing left to lose, he calls the number and is led to the Mononokean, a tea room which suddenly appears next to the infirmary. A morose-sounding man, Haruitsuki Abeno, reluctantly helps Hanae but demands payment afterward. Much to Hanae’s dismay, he cannot afford the fee and must become an employee at the Mononokean to work off his debt. And to make things worse, his new boss is actually one of his classmates. If Hanae ever hopes to settle his debt, he must work together with Abeno to guide a variety of dangerous, strange, and interesting youkai back to the Underworld.
So as you may have noticed, I totally love this anime! The fluffball, cute protagonist and stern-like-tsundere(?) protagonist. It’s so cute and sweet. Though there are indeed some serious parts, but it’s mostly just cute in my eyes, to be honest. As the plot continues you see that the somewhat short stories per chapter get to the main plot. It is really a slow development, but you see a lot of both sides develop. The concept was quite original. There are indeed a lot of exorcism-themed anime and manga, but how the setting is is quite original. Some ideas I’ve already seen from somewhere else, but in general, it is very solid, good developed. I enjoyed it much with the cute at, but still a plotline that is not going nowhere. Unfortunately, it is not the clearest in the anime where it goes, but I think you get some key points about what the main plot is about. I can’t think of much else now (maybe because I’m a bit sleep lol), but I’ll give it an 8/10. Every time it updates, I am almost jumping from excitement. it’s a memorable one, which I definitely wanted a second season of!
Well, this was it for this week. See ya.
